Although I am a BIG fan of Chrono Trigger and somehow manage to put it in 70% of my posts about games, I feel that is about time for these companies to stop porting those games, yeah you read it right.

Count how many ports of FF3(or 6 whatever) exist. CT is not far from that too, and this is where I feel that they should stop. I know money talks, but this is how I feel.
Ok, great for those who never played it, or God forbid, didn´t even know it existed. But damnit, if you want to bring that game over to new generations, remake it.
We need a true remake of FF3 and CT, with new graphics and some new content. We all know that companies can´t give us amazing stories in games like in the good old nineties. So instead of just milking the same old games over and over, give us the same story, but in a form of an updated game with newer graphics and sound effects.

Friend: And that was it, I couldn´t watch it for more than 15 minutes, what a boring movie.
Me: Just have a little patience, it gets MUCH better later, trust me. It´s required that you pass through the horrible experience of being cheated and totally ruined, so that you can come to appreciate a movie like "Closer". Seeing Natalie Portman almost naked was the reason alone I decided to watch it. But the best scenes involve her and the Dermathologist. He´s my personal hero now.

In fairness, there's only a teaser out, so it could be a complete remake - and given it's for the DS, it's going to have to do something with that other screen, so it's not going to be an emulator job like Playstation port (which is the only port I'm aware of, albeit a particularly uninspired attempt). I'm staying cautiously optimistic - don't forget the "real" Final Fantasy 3 got a proper remake on DS, which was pretty good by all accounts.

EDIT: according to Gamespot, "Chrono Trigger will not receive a graphical overhaul, though it will be reformatted to utilize the DS' dual-screen presentation and touch-screen functionality." They don't quote any official sources, so we'll see, but they're probably telling the truth.

I disagree with you Samurai Lv1.

With all of the classics that we've grown up with, it would be a shame to let them be forgotten. Some games are just too stellar to be forgotten, and deserve a direct port. I was actually glad that CT came out for the PSX (except for those silly menu load-times that accompanied it). I was glad that I could play the game the way it was meant to be played; with a bad resolution tv and a controller. Computer emulation really does take out a certain experience from the gameplay I find (not only that, I found that you look less like a geek putting in 8 straight hours of console gameplay compared to staring at a computer for the same amount of time). Don't get me wrong, I'm not discouraging remakes, but I'm certainly not discouraging direct ports.

Just my rant. Figured I better type more than a few sentences since you never know when I'll be back.
